It’s hard to believe how much progress we’ve made in so few days! The new park in Turuco is nearly finished. The tires, now painted with designs, form a beautiful fence around the park that prevents the cows from entering and eating away at our newly formed benches made from grass. The park will be finished when we plant trees around the benches and put in two large tire gates on both sides of the park.

Last Wednesday, we started work on the playground area. We ripped off the old roof to the main playset, which was warped from the rain, and put a new wooden base on. Next, we put a painted metal roof on top to prevent water damage from occurring this time. We also used a power sander to sand every object in the playground, including the badly rusted see-saw. Once the sanding was done, we painted the see-saw so that it won’t rust again. Thursday, a welder came and helped us fix the broken swings to make sure that every object is sturdy and safe for children to play on. Our work on this project is so important: while the playground is in disrepair, the children of Turuco have no dedicated place to play.
