It’s well known that all Putney groups staying in Turuco visit a waterfall in Peguche and take elaborate photos there. It’s also well known that just one week ago, Peguche was filled with locals and tourists taking part in the festivals of Inti Raymi. As tradition stands, one must enter the freezing waters of the river at midnight. It is impossible to see anything at that hour, so people must go in on all fours and hope for the best. Our group went in with the distinct advantage of sunlight, and thus remained upright. However, as tends to occur in rivers, the rocks had become a bit more treacherous than a dry rock would be, and inevitably many of us faltered and occasionally one might have even slipped right into the calm waters of the river. Amidst all of the climbing and falling, our group went so far as to put themselves into the cascading water. The photos below stand as proof of our grand spirit of adventure. We’re excited for more adventures to come!
